Nothing says retro like this vintage hound’s tooth hat – it is to die for!
Vintage knitted hat patterns are rare, most of them seem to be crochet – so if knitting’s your thing, I say go for it! And here is what they say back in the day:

MEASUREMENTS:
- Head size 22 ins.
ORIGINAL YARN:
- 4 ply Beehive Fingering, Patonized
- 2 ozs. each Black (B) and White (A).
GAUGE:
- 7 1/2 sts. and 10 rows = 1 inch in Stocking st.
8 sts. and 8 rows = 1 inch in Fair Isle.
NEEDLES & HOOKS:
- Two No.10 Knitting Needles UK/Canada (US size 3)
OTHER MATERIALS:
- A piece of bias lightweight Buckram 3 1/2 ins. wide and 30 ins. long.
- 33 ins. heavy Millinery Wire.
- 2/3 yd. Grosgrain Ribbon 1 inch wide.
- Two Feathers.
